12 June 2018: IFLA invitation July 26, 2018 – Posted in: Newsletters – Tags: , , ,

An invitation to the satellite meeting of The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) World Library & Information Congress 2018. Hosted by Areca Books.

On behalf of the organisers we would like to invite you to the IFLA Satellite Meeting for Local Histories & Genealogies in Multicultural Asia. People searching for their own genealogies and local histories are constantly dealing with a diversity of languages, complex naming and genealogical traditions, hybrid cultural identities and different religious worldviews within a plural society. We hope that this meeting in such a historic milieu will inspire you to achieve a new relevance in your important work as a librarian and custodian of knowledge about local histories and genealogies.

The meeting will take place on Thursday, 23 August 2018 from 9am to 5pm at Khazanah Hall, 1st floor, U.A.B Building, Gat Lebuh Cina, George Town, Penang. The venue is an early 20th century building on the historic waterfront of George Town, Penang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its historic architecture, intangible heritage and multicultural traditions.

Registration is RM90 per participant.

Sign up or get more info from our Eventbrite page here.

(IFLA members are exempt from fees, please contact your respective organisation for registration).
