Set within a quaint Javanese village, this narrative centers on Sato Reang, a youth whose carefree days of games and everyday pranks are abruptly altered following his ritual circumcision. Coerced by an intensely devout father into a strict schedule of Islamic observance, Sato hides his growing resentment for years before choosing open defiance. Abandoning prayers and routine mosque attendance while committing small acts of rebellion, he navigates an adolescent journey questioning the limits of personal autonomy, dogmatic authority, and the heavy burden of parental expectations.
