The love of turtles (and turtle conservation) by two turtle experts, Loretta Shepherd and Dr Chen Pelf Nyok has resulted in a new and wonderful children’s ‘activity book’ which doubles as a colouring as well as an educational book.
“It is fully-illustrated and contains bite-sized information on all the 18 species of freshwater turtles in Malaysia, in both English and Bahasa Malaysia,” Chen told The Star. Dr Chen is co-founder of the Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia, a non-profit organisation dedicated to the protection and conservation of freshwater turtles in the country.
Both the writers have a combined experience of more than three decades in the field of turtle conservation in Malaysia.
The Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia (TCS) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the conservation of freshwater turtles in Malaysia. We aim to bring about the recovery of depleted wild populations of turtles in Malaysia through research, conservation, rehabilitation, education and public outreach. We strive to create the conditions for turtles to thrive under the care and protection of the local communities, an educated public, NGOs and government.
