EXHIBITION CATALOGUE download here

Attractions of the Royal Town
Kuala Kangsar town is the administrative centre of Kuala Kangsar district, a fertile agricultural valley. Situated in the upper section of the Sungai Perak valley, Kuala Kangsar town and its environs offer many noteworthy historic sites.
The oldest settlement here, dating to the sixteenth century, is located on the left bank of Sungai Perak. The mausoleums of the second, 24th and 27th Sultans of Perak are located in Kota Lama Kanan and Sayong. After British intervention in the region in the 1870s, the centre of the Perak Sultanate moved to the right bank of the river. The Sultan’s palace, minor royal residences, the royal mosque and royal tombs are located on Bukit Chandan.
Today, Kuala Kangsar is a bustling market town, linked by road and railway to Taiping and Ipoh. The town is well known for its heritage cuisine utilising fresh ingredients from surrounding farms and rivers. Traditional artisans can be mostly found in the craft villages of Sayong and Padang Changkat.
Educational landmarks such as the Malay College Kuala Kangsar, Clifford School, Madrasah Idrisiah and, more recently, the Sultan Azlan Shah University draw in the younger generation. Kuala Kangsar’s ambience as a premier campus town is enhanced by the Sungai Perak flowing through it, with boat rides, river walks and commanding views of the river on offer.
