This book is intended to be a seminal document of the Exhibition of Post Merdeka Architecture, held in Kuala Lumpur and organised by the Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) and the Balai Seni Lukis Negara (National Art Gallery). It brings together exhibits and materials from the Exhibition together with other articles to further propound the subject and to commemorate the historical significance. The materials from the chosen exhibits were extracted and edited for the purpose of this publication. It does not intend to be encyclopaedic but comprehensive, informative and portable. The format of this book is structured to introduce a series of articles to the reader followed by a complete catalogue of photographs and illustrations of the selected buildings arranged in a chronological order; to tell a story. A story of a journey through time. In a rapidly changing built environment where many buildings are defaced, mutilated, vandalised or even demolished, this book is therefore a timely effort to collate all information available and place them into the pages of history.
