Our Place in Time: Exploring Heritage and Memory in Singapore is the publication of essays presented at the Singapore Heritage Society and Substation conference of the same name. Many preoccupations of Our Place in Time have since engaged larger, national actors and arenas. In the later-1990s, a strong concern emerged among political leaders and educationists in emphasizing the importance of historical awareness in Singaporeans. This collection of essays therefore offers a timely contribution to the ongoing exploration of heritage, history and memory in Singapore.
